The new era of music playing

I remember wondering some time ago, we've hd records tapes and cds, what will be next?
Will the discs get even smaller? The answer to this pondering is that now we have ipods. Not only a mobile device for playing music on the move but for transporting music too. Cds are becoming less and less used and now what we do is plug our ipods or computers straight into the speakers.

Ipods

Although I have often mildly wanted to own an ipod, I have decided against it. This is because in my view, they make a person insociable. Of course it may be exactly what you are aiming for when you plug those earphones in but when you are listening to your ipod you are not listening to anything else. Too often a person sits and doesn't talk to anyone around them or is oblivious to their surroundings with an ipod in. I looked around on my school bus before and everybody sat in my area but me, all six of them were just listening to their music. Not talking, sulky and miserable. My friend I notice cuts herself off with her ipod in tutor. It's not the real world. Music should be played outloud for everyone to hear. You should be brought together in listening. I do however think they are good for running. The rythm of tunes to excercise to is good.

Good Book

There will always be those people who look down on you for reading say, Darren Shan. They sit there with their penguin classics and their books about serious grown up issues like love, rape and real life. Because your books aren't worth anything because they're about vampires, sci-fi and made-up stuff.
Not only are the books I read just as good (maybe even better as they're not half as boring) they can actually explore deep issues. Don't even get me started about Lord of The Rings. The more I read up on J R R Tolkein the more I realise his books actually are about a lot more than the story. The Shire for example (I think) is very much the place where Tolkein wanted to live - he hated industrialism. The whole story was about how far people would go (the hobbits) to protect their way of life.
I will continue to read fantasy and enjoy it and firmly believe it is good reading!

Ben & Jerry's' betrayal

Anyone know who Unilever are? maybe not. They manufacture loads of brands such as dove, cif, marmite, walls, lynx basically loads. They are a huge company.
If you, like me, have seen the Ben and Jerry's advert about how they got picked last for gym and stuff then you too I think will feel betrayed to know that Ben and Jerry's is a Unilever brand! It is not the ice cream we thought it was... although I don't really know why it changes things?

Petty Officials

This has been mildly annoying me for a while, one of the bus drivers won't let me get off where my Dad lives although it is en route but I have never really objected massively because I can reason with myself that it is his job. He says if I got off in the wrong place and was hurt (not that i'd tell the school I was hurt or even mention that I didn't get off where I live) he could get in trouble.
Fair do's I say but it still bugs me. The other drivers are fine.
But this man on the train tried to make me pay £20 because I didn't buy a ticket at the platform. I was unaware you could no longer buy it on the train. I never did pay the £20 but I don't know why these people grasp the tiny bit of authority they have to be arseholes. There's no reason why he can't say: alright, you know you have to buy them on the platform from now on, I'll let you off. They take their crap jobs so seriously. I could understand if they were actually important but they're not, they suck.

What the correlation?

Many a teacher has said to the class, you are behaving like a bottom set.
I'd like to ask: What correlation does set and behavior have?
I see that people who do well at school are likely to be the ones that try hard but perhaps you are just naturally intelligent? and who says bottom sets mess about anyway? They could be doing their very best! Indeed, intelligent students are often badly behaved because they are bored, or can be and still keep up with the work.
I don't know why grades should dictate behavior and I'm sick of teachers telling us that their bottom set they have just had did better than us.
I once pointed out to a teacher who asked why people in the second set should be so badly behaved that it was probably because we were all potentially top set but messed around too much. They actually agreed with me that it was a fairly good description of the group.

Food Packaging

I find it funny that they write on i.e. snickers, enjoy as part of a balanced diet when it's obviously bad for you.
And alcohol when they write: drink responsibly when their main concern is clearly to sell as much of their product as possible. And also the things they put into foods like omega three in bread,
a. how much bread would you have to eat to get that omega three? (probably the whole loaf)
b. and they are clearly still bad for you, people just want to have an excuse to buy things they shouldn't

French Tests

Today I have a French speaking test which I have in no way prepared for. It will be a very embarrasing experience, sat there for fifteen minutes being asked questions that I don't even understand let alone know the answer to. All week I have been thinking about sitting there going red mumbling french that doesn't even make sense whilst my caring teacher tries her best to get from me what I need for a good grade. She will one day (not today) realise I am no good at French. The silences are the worst.
I wonder, why do they teach languages so badly? This is my fifth year of doing French and yet when asked what did you do taday? I can only just about string a sentence together. If I had has lessons outside of school I would expect to be fluent by now. We don't even get taught grammar, just a multitude of phrases we are meant to be able to use, to minimise mistakes is the thinking behind it. No verb tables, nothing. I blame the system because by looking at my English I know that I am not actually bad at languages. Hopefully this year I can wing it and scrape a C or a B if I'm feeling good but I want the way languages are taught at school to change.

Public Transport

I'm all for public transport if they could just make it cheap and efficient. It seems somehow wasteful that all the time, everywhere, cars are driving places with one person in when they could seat five. So car pooles might not be necesary from a cost point of view but it doesn make sense.
we are always urged, use public transport but it is expensive and not very good.
They can't improve it because it has no money because nobody uses it because they need to improve it.
There needs to be a MASSIVE initial investment.
If everyone could get about by train and bus cheaply and easily they would.
And also why is there so much freight on the roads?
surely that can be bunged on a train?
There used to be trains to everywhere - not anymore
a friend of mine thinks we should re use the canals - good idea me reckons, I must research it

Just Thought I'd Share

To all you other bloggers, tired of clicking next blog hoping to find a good one but all you get is chinese? (not that chinese is bad, I just can't read it)
well, in the search bar just make up blog names and search them
chances are they're made
anyway this is a much more acurate process of finding blogs you might actually want to read

Wasting Food

I often get annoyed when food is wasted and someone makes the oh so intelligent comment "that could have gone to a starving child in Africa" because
a. People in England starve too you know and not only children
b. there is absolutely no way it could have gone to a starving child in Africa unless it is meant to somehow materialize onto another continent. Us eating all our food really does the children no benefit at all. So please, stop saying that and maybe also buy food for an English tramp near you.

you love rock?

I have noticed a large amount of t-shirts about that say I love rock on them, like the I love NY t-shirt
it annoys me because people obvs just wear them because that's what in at the moment
I mean, if you really loved rock, you would be wearing a band t-shirt no? yet when they get home on goes the likes of Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus, not that there's anything wrong with them
but I find it stupid. You clearly do not love rock.

Stupid Slang

So why exactly to people put extra letters on the end of wordsssss???????
It's pointless, not to mention annoying. This, by the way, is a rant about stupid things people do when they type, quite a lot to do with facebook

point one was the extra letters
secondly, why xox on the end of status' and suchlike? are you kissing me now? if that is indeed what it means
what is bubs anyway? - alright bubs, what? bubs?
and ultra personal fb status' like why did you hurt me?
this is only relevant who to it is directed at and yet every one of your contacts has to have it in their news feeds
we don't care why they hurt you! shut up!
and attention seekers. suddenly, I just don't want to be around anymore comes up and everybody rushes to post  cheering messages telling them its ok and they just lap it up and play depressed
and MORONIC spelling
not even shorter or phonetic
you = yhoo
what?
as my sister puts it: I just fucking hate text speak

Soup

today I was heating up soup in the microwave and the instructions said: take off my lid, pop me in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes, get me out, stir me and pop me back in for a further 3 minutes, leave me to cool before serving

and I thought... why personify something you are about to eat? so that you can feel like your food was a person too? because they don't mind being boiled.

I don't get it. What was wrong with the old sort of instructions?

Really?

I thought today how funny it is when people ask "really?"
you know : person one, I fell over, person two, really?, person one, no I lied :|
what do they expect?
